The 24/7 Shift
Real talk: the traditional 9-to-5 market structure is looking a bit dated. According to new data via Blockworks and The Kobeissi Letter, the majority of tokenized stock volume is happening while the suits are asleep. On BNB Chain, over 70% of volume happens outside standard U.S. market hours. It’s a similar vibe on Solana at 63%, while Base is sitting at nearly 60%.
This isn't just a coincidence—it shows that investors are actively choosing on-chain assets to fill the gap when centralized exchanges lock their doors. Jupiter, a major platform on Solana, just saw a 50% month-over-month spike in this activity, proving that the demand for around-the-clock liquidity is highkey real.
Growth by the Numbers
The total value of tokenized equities has hit $3.3 billion, a solid 15% jump over the last 30 days, per RWA.xyz. Major players like Ondo Global Markets, xStocks, and bStocks are leading the charge, even though many of these products are currently gated off from U.S. investors.
The SEC Pivot
The plot thickens as the SEC finally starts to crack the door open. They recently introduced an “innovation exemption” that could allow qualifying venues to trade tokenized U.S.-listed stocks on-chain. SEC Commissioner Mark Uyeda noted that if venues want in, they’ll have to be transparent—publishing trade prices, timestamps, and liquidity pool balances in USD. It’s a major W for market structure, but always remember: this isn't financial advice. Keep your risk management tight and don’t ape into your bags without doing your own research.
Why it matters
As regulators slowly warm up to on-chain assets, the line between TradFi and DeFi is getting blurrier. If these exemption rules stick, it could bridge the gap between U.S. investors and the 24/7 liquidity that crypto natives have been enjoying for years.
