The new era of wellness
Forget the capes and cowls—Megan Fox is taking on a new kind of role, and it's giving major main character energy. The actress and model is starring in a fresh campaign for the telehealth company Ro, where she plays the literal embodiment of their erectile dysfunction product, "Ro Sparks." Dressed in a sleek red suit, Fox is on a mission to make ED talk less of a taboo and more of an everyday conversation.
"Don’t worry, my packaging is very discreet," Fox says with a wink in the new commercial. It’s lowkey hilarious but also super direct, signaling a massive shift from the old-school pharmaceutical ads of the 90s that were way more subtle.
Why a woman is the face of the brand
It might seem unexpected to have a woman fronting a campaign for a product aimed at men, but Saman Rahmanian, co-founder and chief product officer at Ro, says it’s completely intentional. "Men really lean in when this topic is brought up from the woman’s perspective," Rahmanian explained. Real talk: ED isn't just a guy issue; it impacts the whole relationship, and women are often the ones who help make the conversation happen.
Fox has signed a long-term deal as a brand ambassador, so expect to see her popping up in ads for the next year or two. The company is even testing out some IRL marketing in NYC and LA, where fans can literally "pick up" posters featuring Fox.
Why it matters
Telehealth is absolutely booming, with the global market expected to hit $187.5 billion by 2033. Ro is playing the game hard, following recent campaigns featuring icons like Serena Williams and Charles Barkley to destigmatize their services. By bringing in a massive star like Fox to bring the topic into the pop-culture zeitgeist, Ro is betting big that normalizing these conversations will keep them ahead of competitors like Hims & Hers. Say less, the stigma is officially being checked.
