Lights, Camera, Madrid
Get ready for a new cinematic drop: Woody Allen is officially heading to Madrid to start production on his latest feature film. Cameras start rolling on October 5, and the project is officially being boarded by WestEnd Films for world sales.
The Cast and Crew
The project is a contemporary comedy written and directed by Allen. He's bringing together an interesting mix of talent for this one, including Marton Csokas (who you might know from The Lord of the Rings), Jemima Kirke (Girls, Sex Education), Jakob Oftebro, Peter Vives, and Alexi Wasser.
Behind the scenes, it’s a team effort between Madrid-based Wanda Vision, Allen’s own production company Gravier Productions, and 3SIX9 Studios. The film will be shot entirely in English.
Why it matters
This is a major vibe shift for the director, marking his third time filming in Spain after Vicky Cristina Barcelona and Rifkin's Festival. Allen noted he’s hyped to be back, stating he has always loved the city. WestEnd Films is planning to shop the project to international buyers at the upcoming American Film Market, so the plot thickens on who will distribute this worldwide.
