A painful road to recovery
It’s been a rough week for Teen Mom alum Farrah Abraham. Her manager, Chrissy Johnston, shared in a statement on September 29 that the 35-year-old recently underwent a major double-disc jaw surgery. According to her team, the procedure was medically necessary to fix chronic pain that had prevented her from opening her mouth normally for some time.
However, the recovery process is looking intense. Farrah is currently unable to speak, with her jaw wired shut, and she is limited to a strictly liquid diet via straw for the next two months. She’s also dealing with significant facial swelling and a distressing side effect: she has lost hearing in her right ear.
Giving major 'Frankenstein' vibes
Farrah took to her Instagram Stories to give a raw update on her state of mind, writing, “I feel like Frankenstein right now,” and asking for prayers that her face—and hearing—recover soon. Her manager emphasized that she is struggling significantly, both physically and mentally, while dealing with the pain from the procedure, which included stitches extending from her jaw and neck up to her ears.
Why it matters
For anyone following Farrah’s journey, this surgery marks a difficult turn after she had spent recent years focusing on self-acceptance and moving away from cosmetic enhancements. It’s a sobering reminder that even when celebrities are open about their aesthetic choices, sometimes they are dealing with serious, painful medical realities behind the scenes. We're sending her good vibes for a smooth recovery.
