The band is back and the vibes are immaculate
If you thought the Powderfinger reunion was just going to be a low-key affair, the band is here to tell you that you were wrong. The iconic Australian rock group, featuring the classic lineup of Bernard Fanning, Ian Haug, Darren Middleton, John “JC” Collins, and Jon Coghill, is officially on the comeback trail and they are honestly shook by the response.
After initially announcing 18 shows for their 2027 reunion tour, the band realized they severely underestimated the hype. When pre-sales dropped this week, fans absolutely ate, setting alarms and camping out in digital queues to snag tickets. The band shared a message saying, “Holy s—!!! Thank you, thank you, thank you!!!” because the love they’re receiving is literally off the charts.
More shows, more chaos
Because the pre-sale allocation got wiped out so fast, the band is adding eight new shows to the schedule, bringing the total to 26. They’ve added extra stops in Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane, and Perth to keep up with the main character energy their fanbase is bringing to the table.
It’s been a while since the legends called it quits following their massive 2010 farewell tour, but the demand right now proves they’ve been living rent-free in our heads this entire time. The tour is set to hit central city locations across the country, performing under stadium-sized big tops.
Why it matters
Powderfinger is an Aussie music institution with five No. 1 albums and 18 ARIA Awards, and this level of post-hiatus demand proves that classic rock royalty still has the range to dominate the box office.
