Imagine waiting for an asthma treatment, only to realize the entire staff has ghosted the building—and left you locked inside. That is exactly the situation Tia Chandler found herself in at a ConvenientMD clinic in Keene, New Hampshire, on September 24.

Chandler was waiting for a steroid shot for her asthma when the clinic seemingly shut down for the night. Realizing the office was empty, she initially assumed staff were just cleaning, but the reality was much more alarming. "I pop my head out and said, 'Hello? Hello?' And, then I got a little nervous," Chandler told WCVB.

The great escape

When she realized she was truly alone and locked in, the panic set in. She texted her husband to call 911 and attempted to exit, which triggered the building’s alarm system. She eventually had to call the police herself to get out of the facility. The whole ordeal felt like a scene from a movie, but it was definitely not the vibe she was going for.

As for the clinic, they’re feeling the heat. In a statement, ConvenientMD called the incident a regretful error that "should never have happened" and noted they are taking steps to make sure it doesn't happen again.

Why it matters

Real talk: your medical experience should never include being abandoned in a locked room. Chandler is understandably done with this location, stating she won't be returning. It serves as a reminder to always double-check the exit strategy if you're the last one in the waiting room—even if it feels like something that should only happen in a horror flick.
