A tragic end in Hawaii

It’s honestly gut-wrenching to hear about Jenny Lupton, a 50-year-old Southwest flight attendant whose life was cut short while she was away for work. Back on August 20, Jenny was found dead near a dumpster outside the Hilton Hawaiian Village in Waikiki. The news is heavy, and real talk, the situation is still shaking up everyone who knew her.

According to the Honolulu Medical Examiner’s Office, Jenny died from multiple injuries after falling from the 24th floor of the hotel. She was in Hawaii on a layover, having been an Oklahoma native and a long-time member of the Southwest team for nearly 30 years.

Family questions the circumstances

While the medical examiner has officially ruled her death a suicide, it’s been a rough journey for her family. Her sister, Tresa Lupton, previously told KFOR that Jenny seemed like she was having a great time, texting about getting a new tattoo just hours before the incident. Because things seemed so normal, her family suspected foul play or some kind of accident, even pressing the Honolulu Police Department for a probe into her death.

Though the medical examiner’s ruling is out, the police investigation remains officially open. Southwest Airlines has stated they are continuing to cooperate with local authorities and are supporting Jenny's family and coworkers during this incredibly difficult time.
