Leaving the house, but make it therapy
Harry Styles is opening up about his journey from a "locked-in" pop star to a guy who actually enjoys the fresh air. In a recent joint interview with Thom Yorke for Rolling Stone, the 32-year-old admitted that during his One Direction days, he lowkey felt like the outside world was just too risky.
"In the early days, when I was in the band, so much of the hotel experience felt very locked-in," Styles explained. "When I’d be home, it felt like, ‘Oh, it’s not safe for me to be out.’”
The plot twist
The big shift in his main character energy actually came thanks to a former girlfriend who refused to let him stay cooped up. He shared that when she visited London, he didn't want to look "nuts" by hiding away for three days, so they started walking everywhere. It was a total wake-up call for him.
“So we walked everywhere, and it was this realization for me: ‘Oh, it’s fine to be outside,’” he said. That simple change of pace—hitting the pavement at ground level to actually see the world—is now what keeps his creative juices flowing.
Why it matters
Beyond just getting his steps in, Harry is leaning into his privacy. While he’s happy to talk about his growth, he’s still keeping the details of his personal life, including his alleged engagement to Zoë Kravitz, mostly under wraps. He’s made it clear he won’t be performing his life for the public, and honestly? That’s a total vibe.
