Leveling up the Con
Real talk: Eminem is making a surprise play at New York Comic Con next week, and it’s giving major main character energy. The legendary rapper is teaming up with streetwear and pop-culture staples NERDS Clothing for a drop that’s honestly iconic.
What’s the drop?
If you’re heading to the Javits Center between Oct. 8-11, make sure to hit up NERDS booth #3253. They’re rolling out a limited-edition collection featuring some super unique 16-bit artwork of Eminem. Even cooler? New York artist Danny Cortes is crafting a series of hand-embellished arcade cabinets that will be on display.
But wait, the plot thickens—the collab also features an original video game titled “Marshall’s Massacre.” It was developed by Fan Arcade, a crew that knows how to build interactive experiences for the biggest names in the game. You don’t have to be at the con to get in on the action, either; you can play the game online at marshallsmassacre.com.
Why it matters
This is a huge W for hip-hop culture inside the comic con scene, which usually stays in its lane with film, TV, and comics. NERDS CEO Eric Medina summed it up, saying, “If you were to tell me that an overnight idea to create NERDS would turn into a collaboration with the biggest hip-hop artist in the world years later, I wouldn’t believe you.” Say less—this collab is highkey the highlight of the event.
