The streaming wars are officially entering their 'everyone is friends' era. In a major move, Disney Entertainment and Netflix have locked in a massive new licensing deal that’s honestly giving main character energy for your watchlist. We're talking a whole spread of library hits and current-season TV shows headed to Netflix on a non-exclusive basis.
The big arrivals
First up, if you’re a fan of chaos and cool creatures, all five Ice Age movies are hitting Netflix globally on Oct. 4 for a three-month promotional run. This is just in time to hype us up for the sixth installment, Ice Age: Boiling Point, dropping in theaters in early 2027.
Also getting the Netflix treatment is Percy Jackson and the Olympians. Seasons 1 and 2 land on Netflix globally Oct. 4, giving you three months to catch up before Season 3 hits Disney+ on Nov. 20. It's a total W for fans who haven't made the jump to Disney+ yet.
More bops and binges
Disney is also sharing some of their heavy hitters from 20th Television. Will Trent (Seasons 1-4) is coming to Netflix globally on Nov. 3, while Shifting Gears (Seasons 1-2) arrives in the U.S. on Dec. 1. Internationally, Tracker (Seasons 1-3) is set to join the Netflix lineup starting Feb. 26, 2027.
For the nostalgics and comfort-show lovers, the deal brings gems like Felicity, Revenge, Army Wives, Fresh Off the Boat, and This Is Us (internationally) to the platform. Looking ahead to 2027, even more magic is coming as Pixar and Disney Animation hits like Soul, Elio, and Raya and the Last Dragon start rolling out globally.
Why it matters
Real talk: Disney is playing a genius long game here. By licensing these titles to Netflix’s massive 325 million+ user base, they’re basically using their rival as a giant billboard to get more people hooked on their franchises, while pocketing major cash. Plus, don't trip—nothing is leaving Disney+ or Hulu. It’s not that deep; they’re just expanding the reach of their library while keeping their crown jewels where they belong.
