The Rumor Mill Is Spinning

Real talk: the streets are saying a Tesla and SpaceX merger might actually be a thing. After Elon Musk flexed his new "flying" Roadster at a SpaceX site in Texas this week, Wall Street analysts and gamblers alike are convinced a deal is coming.

Barclays is signaling that a merger could drop before Tesla’s annual general meeting, which is locked for December 6. While they noted the timing might get a bit tight, their analysts have called a tie-up between the two giants the "consensus expectation" right now.

The Numbers Behind the Hype

We’re talking about massive valuations here—SpaceX is sitting at nearly $2 trillion after its massive public debut back in June, and Tesla is rocking a valuation around $1.4 trillion. If these two join forces, it would be the ultimate power move.

Prediction market bettors on Kalshi are highkey feeling this, too. They’re pricing in about a 50% chance of a merger by March 1, 2027, jumping up to 60% by April, and hitting near 80% by the end of next year.

Why It’s Giving Synergy

This isn't just random speculation; these companies are already doing the most together. SpaceX dropped $300 million on Tesla Megapacks for their AI data centers earlier this year. Plus, they’re already lowkey building semiconductors for Tesla’s robots and chips for SpaceX satellites.

Musk isn't hiding the collaboration either. "You’re going to see the results of what happens when you have a collaboration with the world’s best car company and the world’s best rocket company," Musk said during the Roadster reveal.

The Hurdles

It’s not all Ws yet. Barclays analysts pointed out that getting shareholder approval could be a total headache. During the 2025 AGM, about 11% of votes were "Broker non-votes," which count as "Against" votes. Tesla would need to seriously ramp up shareholder participation to get a merger across the finish line. Neither company has commented on the rumors yet.

Why it matters

If these two heavyweights merge, it would consolidate control over a massive chunk of AI, automotive, and aerospace tech under one umbrella, fundamentally shifting the market—and your portfolio.
