Still crushing records
Taylor Swift is giving main character energy once again. With her album The Life of a Showgirl returning to the No. 1 spot on the Billboard 200 (dated Oct. 10), she has officially logged a total of 99 weeks at the top of the chart over her career. Lowkey, she is absolutely eating.
Swift has already surpassed legends like Whitney Houston (46 weeks) for the most weeks at No. 1 by a female artist and Elvis Presley (67 weeks) for the most weeks by a solo artist. Now, the only people standing between her and the top of the mountain are The Beatles, who managed 132 weeks at No. 1 between 1964 and 2001.
The Swift-McCartney connection
Real talk, the love between Swift and the music industry icons is still going strong. She recently gave Paul McCartney a massive shoutout on Instagram, calling him an "eternally exceptional artist" while hyping his new album, The Boys of Dungeon Lane. The admiration is clearly mutual—McCartney even performed "I Want to Hold Your Hand" at Swift’s wedding.
Why it matters
Billboard has been tracking these stats since 1956, and seeing Swift climb this high in the rankings proves she’s not just a trend—she’s a generation-defining force. While The Beatles hold the ultimate crown for now, Swift’s current pace is nothing short of legendary. Say less, we’ll be watching to see if she keeps climbing.
