Is it even a weekend if Tate McRae isn’t giving us a new anthem to scream? The Canadian pop queen just dropped her latest track, “Housewife,” and you guys have already decided it’s an absolute W. In a poll that closed this Sunday, your votes propelled the song to the top spot, snagging a massive 51% of the vote.
The vibes are immaculate
If you haven’t had the chance to stream it yet, the lyrics are totally main character energy. Tate is essentially singing about being her own boss, securing the bag, and living life on her own terms, with lyrics like, “I just wanna make a lot of money, be my own housewife.” Honestly? We love to see it. It’s giving unapologetic independence, and we are here for it. The track is also expected to be a major highlight on her upcoming fourth studio album.
The competition was stiff
Tate’s single managed to beat out some pretty major players, including the remix of Olivia Rodrigo’s “Expectations” featuring Chappell Roan, which came in second with about 35% of the vote. Ashe’s new album The Girl of Your Dreams and U2’s latest, “The Greatest Show on Earth,” also made the list, but Tate lowkey stole the show this time around.
Catch her live
Not only did she drop the track on Friday, but she’s also been teasing us with a treasure trove of BTS pics from the music video shoot on her Instagram. She confessed she has so many photos she literally doesn't know where to start. If you’re craving more, make sure to tune into the Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show tonight (Oct. 18), where she’s slated to bring “Housewife” to the stage.
Why it matters
Tate McRae continues to solidify her spot as a powerhouse in the pop industry, proving that her fan base is as engaged as ever when it comes to crowning their favorite new hits.
