The Incident

It’s giving nightmare fuel. A tragic scene unfolded at Six Flags Over Georgia in Austell on Monday when a guest fell from the park’s Goliath roller coaster. Witnesses reported that the rider fell and struck the coaster car three separate times during the descent. In a chilling turn of events, one parkgoer even captured the moment in a souvenir photo.

Ride Evacuation

Following the fall, the Goliath—which hits speeds of 70 mph and towers 200 feet high—came to an abrupt halt on an incline. Riders who were on the coaster at the time were trapped until staff could safely evacuate them, moving people off the ride four at a time.

Park Response

A spokesperson for Six Flags confirmed the incident and expressed condolences, noting that they are providing support to those impacted and working with local authorities to investigate. “The park team and local authorities responded immediately, and we are cooperating fully,” the spokesperson said.

Why it matters

Safety at theme parks is non-negotiable, and this event is a heartbreaking reminder of the risks involved with extreme thrill rides. As the investigation continues, the park is currently under pressure to explain how such a catastrophe could occur on one of its signature attractions. Our hearts go out to the victim’s family during this incredibly heavy time.
