The Situation
Philly, we’ve got a situation. Star running back Saquon Barkley is officially listed as week-to-week after suffering a hamstring injury during Sunday’s 24-20 loss to the Los Angeles Rams. The 29-year-old went down during the first quarter and only managed two rushes for eight yards before heading to the sidelines.
Real talk: this is a major scare for the Eagles. Barkley has been a force, putting up 174 yards with a 5.1 yards-per-carry average through the first three games of 2026. After a legendary two-year run with the team that included a 2,000-yard season and a Super Bowl ring in 2024, seeing him hurt is lowkey stressful.
Next Man Up
With Barkley out, the load shifts to Tank Bigsby. The 2023 third-round pick, who landed in Philly via a trade from Jacksonville last September, stepped up on Sunday with 14 carries for 55 yards. Bigsby has shown he can ball, averaging 5.9 yards per carry last season. He’s going to need to bring that same energy for the upcoming matchup against the Jacksonville Jaguars in Week 5.
Why it matters
The Eagles are sitting at 2-2 after dropping two straight games, including a 27-7 blowout by the Chicago Bears last week. The vibes are off after starting the season 2-0 with wins over the Commanders and Titans. With the team already dealing with a mountain of injuries, losing their RB1 for any extended time is a massive L. They need to find their momentum fast or the season could spiral.
