Real talk: Rod Stewart is finally calling it. The 81-year-old legend just announced that his upcoming 2027 run, titled Rod Stewart: The Final Encore, will be his last major tour. After spending more than 60 years on the road—starting way back in the early 60s when he was literally deported from Spain for vagrancy—he’s decided it’s time to retire from the touring life. Why he's pulling the plug
It hasn't exactly been smooth sailing lately. Stewart has dealt with a laundry list of health hurdles recently, including a heart procedure that forced him to cancel a U.S. tour earlier this year. He’s also battled flu, Covid, strep throat, and issues with his vocal cords. He’s promised fans "one hell of a show" for this swan song, noting that he’s incredibly grateful for the life his music career has afforded him.
What's next?
Don’t panic—he hasn't ruled out the occasional one-off gig, and he’s definitely not quitting music entirely. He’s reportedly still working on unreleased tracks with former Faces bandmate Ronnie Wood. He still has a few shows scheduled for September 2027 in Red Rocks, Colorado, but his arena tour through the UK and Europe will be his final massive project. The trek kicks off in April 2027 and wraps in Hanover, Germany, in July.
