The Crypto-fication of Robinhood

Robinhood is lowkey turning into a crypto exchange with a traditional UI. At its HOOD Summit in Houston today, the platform announced a massive expansion aimed at active traders who aren't trying to deal with the 9-to-5 grind of the legacy stock market.

The biggest flex? They’re rolling out AI agents that can actually trade for you. Users can spin up an agent using models from OpenAI or Anthropic, give it access to a dedicated account, and let it build watchlists or execute trades. You can even set them on "Loops"—standing instructions that trigger trades when conditions are met. While the tech is highkey impressive, Robinhood is keeping the training wheels on for now: trades default to "approve first," and agents can't touch margin accounts at launch.

More Markets, More Leverage

Robinhood is also bringing crypto-style perpetual futures (perps) to the table. Starting with Bitcoin and ether, eligible users can get up to 10x leverage. This is massive for those who want to long or short without expiration dates, but stay woke: leverage makes liquidations real easy, real fast. They’re also launching earnings contracts via Cboe, letting you bet on company metrics like revenue or iPhone sales.

To top it off, the platform is finally breaking the weekend barrier. Through Bruce ATS, users will be able to trade select stocks and ETFs on Saturdays and Sundays, effectively ending the traditional market clock for the retail crowd.

Why it matters

Robinhood is betting that you want one app to rule all your assets, 24/7. While this tech gives you more tools to manage your bags, remember that leverage is a double-edged sword. Using AI to trade carries inherent risk, and none of this is financial advice—do your own research before letting a bot handle your capital.
