It’s giving a total nightmare scenario: a 24-year-old father from Perryville, Maryland, who traveled to Cleveland for the Steelers-Browns game, has been found dead. Authorities pulled the body of Phoenix Phillips from the Cuyahoga River on Tuesday around 1 p.m. near Jacobs Pavilion after receiving reports of a person in the water.
Phillips had been missing since last Friday, when he was last spotted near West Superior Avenue and Robert Lockwood Jr. Drive. Cleveland police previously labeled his disappearance as “concerning” after he reportedly got separated from the person he was traveling with. Before the tragic confirmation, social worker Breejanee Alford of the non-profit Cleveland Missing described the family as “devastated” and noted that Phillips was a “loving dad.”
What this means for you
At this moment, the real tea is that we still don't know exactly how he died or how he ended up in the water. Police are still investigating the circumstances surrounding his death. It’s an incredibly sad situation for the family, and we’re waiting on further updates from the medical examiner.
