John Mateer had a performance that was honestly tough to watch. He fumbled deep in the red zone, leading to an 85-yard scoop-and-score for Georgia, and threw a messy interception under pressure. Later, another fumble set Georgia up at the 11-yard line, effectively killing any hope of a comeback. While his stat line—231 yards and two touchdowns—looks okay on paper, most of that was garbage-time production. When the game actually mattered, the vibes were completely off.
The Ground Game Is Missing In Action
It’s not just the passing game that’s flailing. Oklahoma’s run game is non-existent. They managed a pathetic 65 rushing yards against Georgia, with Lloyd Avant leading the team with just 23 yards. Offensive coordinator Ben Arbuckle hasn't found a solution, and the team is actually regressing compared to last season. If they don't fix the trenches, the Texas front seven is going to have a field day.

Venables confirmed in his postgame presser that the staff "discussed" a quarterback change. With two losses already on the books and a brutal remaining schedule—including Florida, Ole Miss, and Texas A&M—the Sooners need a W or their season is cooked.
