North West is officially over the weird narrative that her personal style is somehow 'dark.' The 13-year-old recently took to a TikTok Live alongside her mom, Kim Kardashian, to call out the haters who keep labeling her fashion choices—like her facial piercings, spiked jewelry, and blue hair—as 'demonic.'
'Stop saying I'm demonic just because I like to dress this way,' North said. 'Don't judge a book by its cover.'
Kim Kardashian noted that people probably started spiraling because of the black grills the teen has been wearing, but she made it clear that her daughter’s style is hers to own. In fact, North even revealed that her decision to wear an all-white, Lolita-inspired look for her first headline concert at The Vic Theatre in September was a calculated move to kill those rumors.
'I was like, if I'm gonna do my first show ever, I gotta come in like an angel in all white,' North explained. 'You guys know I'm not on that demon stuff. I believe in Jesus. That's how I came to show you guys I'm actually a light, not dark.'
Kim admitted she had no idea that was the symbolism behind the outfit at the time, but the SKIMS founder is fully here for her daughter’s self-expression. She even recalled that North’s love for a 'pierced' look started way back in pre-K with fake accessories. 'If you want blue hair, it is what it is,' Kim said, adding that she'd never take that creative energy away from her.
Why it matters
Real talk: Gen Z and Gen Alpha are all about main character energy through their fashion, and North is just the latest to remind us that clothes are for self-expression, not for random internet strangers to psychoanalyze. It’s giving 'mind your business' energy, and honestly, we love to see it.
