A tragic scene in the Poconos
A situation that’s highkey devastating has unfolded in Pennsylvania. Metallica Rose Harrison, 27, is facing two counts of criminal homicide after the deaths of her husband, Charles Harrison, and their 3-year-old son, Tristan. The family had been staying at the Great Wolf Lodge in Scotrun, PA, since September 21, having extended their trip on October 5.
According to a criminal complaint, Metallica Rose called 911 on Monday afternoon, claiming she had killed her husband and son. She told the operator she needed "help dying" and asked for advice on how to end her own life because she felt "too weak" to finish the job herself. When authorities arrived, they found her with cuts on her wrists and neck, and she was transported to a local hospital. Both Charles and Tristan were found in their bed with stab wounds to the chest.
The investigation continues
Police found a large butcher knife, a smaller knife, various medications, and containers of blood inside the hotel bathroom. On Wednesday, investigators executed a search warrant at the family’s home in Towanda, located about two hours from the resort. They are looking for anything that might explain the motive behind this tragedy.
Officials noted in the search warrant application that it’s common for people in these situations to document their thoughts in journals or on electronics. During the search, investigators seized nearly a dozen knives, a laptop, a safe, and a financial notebook. Reports indicate that Metallica Rose had allegedly drained her husband’s 401(k) to fund their extended stay at the resort.
Why it matters
This incident is a heartbreaking tragedy that has left a community reeling. As authorities dig through the evidence collected from the family’s home, they are hoping to understand the "why" behind a crime that has left so many people searching for answers.
