The North West spotlight struggle

Being a nepo baby comes with major main character energy, and Kim Kardashian is fully aware that her eldest daughter, 13-year-old North West, is ready for the spotlight. In a recent interview with The Times, the SKIMS mogul admitted she has to actively “hold her back” as North pursues more fame-focused projects than her siblings Saint, Chicago, and Psalm.

While the other kids are cool with just popping up during filming, North is highkey chasing a music career—following in the footsteps of her dad, Kanye "Ye" West. Kim shared that she’s working to make sure they’re aligned on what projects North takes on, stressing that she wants to “savor those moments” and manage the teen’s career the right way rather than letting her do everything that comes her way.

Making it happen

North clearly isn't here for the "wait your turn" advice. In an interview with Dazed earlier this August, the teen shut down the idea of launching her career later, saying, "this is my hobby, this is what I want to do with my life."

Despite the need for boundaries, Kim is 100% a supportive mom. She was front and center at The Vic Theatre in Chicago last month for North’s debut headline concert, celebrating her major milestone. Kim even noted that she and Ye are in a better place regarding communication about their daughter's music aspirations.

Why it matters

Navigating childhood fame is always messy, especially when you have a viral EP like N0rth4evr to your name. By setting boundaries, Kim is trying to keep North from burning out while still letting her live her pop-star dreams—a tough balance, no cap.
