The grind never stops
If you thought James Gunn would be chilling now that Superman: Man of Tomorrow is in the rearview, think again. The DC Studios head hopped on Threads to spill the tea, confirming he is "already in it" when it comes to writing his next film. When a fan asked if he was ready for the next project or needing a break, he dropped the news that he had to occupy himself while waiting for the assembly cut of his latest blockbuster.
What we know about the Man of Steel
For those not keeping a calendar, Superman: Man of Tomorrow is set to hit theaters July 9, 2027. We know the assembly cut is officially wrapped, and filming finished back in August. This sequel to 2025’s Superman is bringing back David Corenswet as the iconic hero, and he’s facing a massive plot twist: teaming up with Lex Luthor, played by Nicholas Hoult, to take down Brainiac, played by Lars Eidinger.
The cast is absolutely stacked with returning favorites like Rachel Brosnahan (Lois Lane), Skyler Gisondo (Jimmy Olsen), and Milly Alcock (Supergirl). Plus, we’re getting Aaron Pierre as John Stewart.
Why it matters
Gunn has been running the show at DC Studios with Peter Safran since 2022. Between helming these massive tentpoles and overseeing the entire creative direction of the studio, the man clearly has main character energy. Whether or not this next mystery project is another DC entry or something totally different, the hype is already real. Say less, James.
