The Stats Are In: Jeremiah Smith Is HIM
Real talk: Jeremiah Smith is not human. In Ohio State’s 31-14 dub against No. 14 Iowa, the star wide receiver absolutely ate, breaking two major program records in a single game. His 57-yard touchdown catch—his second of the day—was his 36th career score, making him the all-time touchdown leader for the Buckeyes. He officially passed the legend Chris Olave (35) to take the top spot, and he did it in just 34 games. No cap, he’s doing this halfway through his junior season.
But wait, there's more. Smith didn’t stop at touchdowns. Shortly after that score, he secured his 206th career reception, officially passing Emeka Egbuka to own that school record, too.
The Heisman Energy
After making that historic touchdown catch, Smith hit the Heisman Trophy pose, and honestly? The vibes were immaculate. He finished the game with 11 catches for 206 yards and two touchdowns. With this performance, he became only the second player in Big Ten history to put up back-to-back 200-yard games.
Coming out of high school as the No. 1 recruit in his class, expectations for Smith were already sky-high, but he’s lowkey making greatness look easy. He was a major key in the Buckeyes' 2024 national championship run and hit 87 catches in 2025, but his junior season is something else entirely—he’s hit at least 150 yards and a score in four of his five games this year.
Why it matters
With 207 catches, 3,371 yards, and 36 touchdowns under his belt, Smith is now the undisputed record-holder at Ohio State. He’s closing in on Big Ten history, sitting just 237 yards away from the conference receiving record held by John Standeford and three touchdowns away from Braylon Edwards’ mark. If you aren't watching him yet, start now—this kid is main character energy incarnate.
