The drama unfolds
Texas Rep. Jasmine Crockett is lowkey in the middle of a political firestorm. The drama started Monday after Crockett posted a list of 14 candidates supported by her FIRE PAC, but the Democratic nominee for the U.S. Senate in Texas, James Talarico, was nowhere to be found.
Former Rep. Susan Wild did not hold back on her feelings about the snub. In a blunt post to X, Wild called Crockett a "narcissistic drama queen" and stated, "F*** her." Wild argued that Crockett is prioritizing personal feelings over party success in a critical race.
The background noise
Crockett, who ran against Talarico in the Senate primary and lost, fired back at her critics on social media. She claimed she already congratulated Talarico back in March after the primary results were finalized, telling critics, "Y’all are corny! Keep receipts."
This isn't the first time Crockett has made headlines for her commentary. She has previously drawn fire for calling Gov. Greg Abbott "Governor Hot Wheels," describing Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene as having a "bad-built, butch body," and suggesting some voters had a "slave mentality." Most recently, she received significant backlash for honoring Chris Brown in the congressional record.
Regarding the endorsement list, the FIRE PAC has raised $144,960 and is currently focused on state and local races, which explains why several statewide candidates, including gubernatorial candidate Gina Hinojosa, were also omitted.
Why it matters
For Texas Democrats, the vibe is all about unity ahead of a competitive election. With the Senate seat being a major battleground, any internal tension or perceived lack of support for the nominee can be a major L for the party's cohesion. The real tea here is whether this social media feud reflects deeper fractures within the party or if it’s just the usual DC noise.
