It’s giving messy, but we love a redemption arc. Jackson Olson, the Savannah Bananas baseball player currently competing on Dancing With the Stars, officially apologized to his fellow contestant Guillermo Rodriguez after throwing some major shade online.
The drama
The plot thickened when Olson dropped a since-deleted comment on an October 3 TikTok post by the Loco Beach Coconuts. The post featured player Erik Ostberg doing a comedic recreation of a dance performance by Rodriguez and his pro partner, Witney Carson. Olson’s comment reportedly asked, “@erikostberg21 but seriously how did you do this better than him with 2 hours of rehearsal.”
Making things right
Olson clearly realized his vibe was off and took to Instagram on October 6 to own his mistake. He posted a video set to the iconic Hannah Montana track “Nobody’s Perfect,” featuring himself and Rodriguez showing off their dance moves together.
In the caption, Olson kept it 100: “To G and to all of you, from the bottom of my heart I am so sorry about my comment I made the other day and that it caused this much negativity.” He finished off with a sweet, “I love this guy... now let’s do what this show is meant to be about.. DANCE. ily G.”
Why it matters
Guillermo Rodriguez has become a massive fan favorite this season—so much so that even John Oliver admitted his kids are lowkey obsessed with the show just to watch him perform. Since the apology, the two seem to have squashed the beef, meaning the ballroom drama can stay strictly on the dance floor.
