It’s giving a really tough day for everyone involved in Glenburn. A tragic multi-vehicle crash went down on the Melba Highway around 2:40pm yesterday, and the vibes are definitely off.
The situation
The incident involved a commercial bus operated by Mee’s Bus Lines, which was running a scheduled service from Mansfield to Melbourne, and two other vehicles. According to official reports, the driver of one of the cars involved died at the scene. The driver and the passenger of the second car thankfully only walked away with minor injuries.
The fallout
There were 18 people on the bus, and paramedics had to assess a total of 21 patients. Several bus passengers were rushed to the hospital. The current status is:
- A teenage boy was airlifted in serious condition.
- A man in his 50s was also taken to the hospital with serious injuries.
- A teenage girl and another teenage boy are in the hospital with injuries described as non-life-threatening.
A spokesperson for Mee’s Bus Lines called the accident “pretty devastating” and noted that their team is, understandably, shaken up. The company is currently cooperating with authorities to figure out exactly what happened.
