The RB Drought is Real

Three weeks in and the fantasy landscape is looking rough. We've only seen 35 instances of a running back hitting 15+ PPR points so far, compared to 46 at this same point last year. Real talk: if your backfield is giving inconsistent energy or you missed out on waiver wire gold, it’s time to hit the trade market.

The Expensive Buy-Lows

If you have the capital, you can still grab elite talent.

  • Chase Brown: He’s underwhelmed, but he’s the clear lead back in a strong Bengals offense with a decent schedule. Expect to pay second-round value, maybe even a first.
  • Saquon Barkley: The talent is still there, but the Philadelphia offense hasn't popped off yet. He’s stuck without goal-line work while Jalen Hurts is on the field, but he’s still worth a second-round price tag.
  • Breece Hall: He’s going to cost you a second-round pick, but his raw volume and talent make him a high-key priority.

The Mid-Tier Plays

Looking for someone to hold it down?

  • Aaron Jones / Jordan Mason: If you can pair these two Vikings, you’re chilling. If not, go for Mason—he’s the one to roster once he heals from his thumb injury. These will cost you less than a sixth-round pick.
  • Travis Etienne: He’s dealing with an injury, which makes his value low-key perfect for a buy-low deal. You might snag him for a fifth-round value.
  • Judkins: He’s getting 17+ touches per game. The end zone looks haven't materialized yet, but once they do, he’s going to be a problem. Look to pay fifth-round value.

The Cheap Depth Pieces

If you’re desperate, these guys won't break the bank and could save your week:

  • Harvey: Averaging more points than J.K. Dobbins. If you have a bench player you don't need, use them to scoop Harvey up.
  • Woody Marks: He’s been more consistent than David Montgomery lately and even snagged a goal-line TD. He’s a solid depth add for the price of a decent bench player.
  • Keaton Mitchell: My personal favorite. The Chargers offense is a mess, but Mitchell is electric. He’s getting goal-line work and could easily steal the show.

Why it matters

Finding RB production is the ultimate W for your league standing. By targeting players with high workloads or low-key injury discounts, you can solidify your lineup and stop the bleeding before the fantasy playoffs start.
