The chaos is here
Week 4 officially kicked off conference play, and the vibes were absolutely electric. No. 17 Iowa pulled off a straight-up movie moment at Michigan Stadium, taking down No. 18 Michigan on the final play of the game. It’s the Hawkeyes' first win in Ann Arbor since 2010 and puts them highkey in the conversation for the Big Ten title. Hank Brown connected with Reece Vander Zee for the walk-off score, cementing the win.
The winners
Florida is back, no cap. Under Jon Sumrall, the Gators absolutely dismantled No. 4 Ole Miss in a 52-28 blowout. Behind 300+ rushing yards from Jadan Baugh and Duke Clark, Florida looks like a legit national contender. Also, major W for Oklahoma State, which snapped an 18-game losing streak by taking down West Virginia 41-24. Drew Mestemaker went off for 389 passing yards, with Wyatt Young snagging 192 of those.
Wisconsin also had a massive glow-up. Transfer QB Colton Joseph threw two late touchdowns, including a 72-yard bomb to Jacob Harris, to stun No. 13 Penn State 23-14.
The Ls
It was a rough one for Texas A&M. After a 35-6 loss to LSU, their season is looking mid. Quarterback Marcel Reed finished with a miserable 10 of 26 passing, and the team just couldn't hang. Oklahoma also took a massive L, falling 41-13 to Georgia. QB1 John Mateer had a total disasterclass, coughing up multiple turnovers that put the game away before halftime. Elsewhere, USC's struggles continued as they were bullied in a loss, and Louisville’s playoff hopes hit a wall after a 30-27 upset loss to Wake Forest.
Why it matters
With heavy hitters like Texas A&M, USC, and Louisville faltering, the postseason picture is getting messy fast. The rise of teams like Iowa and Florida proves that the landscape of college football is shifting, and consistency is the only way to survive the rest of the season.
