The Drama is Real
MLB playoff baseball is officially in its chaotic era. Wednesday was the last day we'll see four games on the docket, and the stakes were high. The Chicago White Sox were looking to secure a clean sweep at home for the first time since 1906, but the Cleveland Guardians were not about to let that happen without a fight.
Jo Adell: Main Character Energy
If you're looking for the MVP of this game, look no further than Jo Adell. The outfielder—who the Guardians picked up from the Angels for Double-A catcher Jacob Cozart back at the trade deadline—absolutely ate this game up. In the middle of a 1-1 tie, Adell stepped up with the bases loaded and two outs. He delivered a massive triple, pushing the lead to 4-1 and moving the Guardians' win probability from 52.8% to a staggering 78.8%.
With that hit, Adell became only the 16th player in postseason history to record a triple in back-to-back games. Real talk, that is an elite stat line.
White Sox Missed the Mark
The White Sox had plenty of chances to put this series to bed, but the vibes were off when it came to capitalizing on scoring opportunities. They scraped together a run in three different frames, but they left way too much on the table. They needed a massive inning to demoralize the Guardians, and when they couldn't get it, the loss became inevitable.
Why it matters
This win keeps the Guardians' season alive, proving that even a team looking for "cheap help" can absolutely shift the momentum of the playoffs. The White Sox missed their chance to end it, and now the pressure is high as we head into the next round of games.
