The Vibe Shift

Real talk: if you thought crypto was just for degens chasing moonshots, think again. Kevin Lee, the Chief Strategy Officer at BingX, recently dropped some alpha at Token2049, noting that the so-called "old money" crowd is starting to treat Bitcoin differently. Instead of looking for that 10x pump in two weeks, these wealthy investors are highkey shifting toward a long-term HODL strategy.

Not Your Average Moonbag

Lee explains that for high-net-worth individuals, the game is now about diversification. It's giving "protect the portfolio" energy. Instead of aping into projects, they’re looking at BTC like they look at gold—allocating a slice, like 5%, to hedge their bets.

The Reality Check

Before you get too hyped, keep it 100: we aren't at mass adoption yet. A CoinShares survey of investors with over $500k in assets shows that while the whales are finally catching on to long-term appreciation, short-term speculation is still at the bottom of their priority list.

However, the plot thickens when you look at the family office data. A JPMorgan report from earlier this year found that a massive 89% of single-family offices still have zero crypto exposure. Their average allocation to digital assets is currently sitting at a measly 0.4%. It’s a W that they’re interested, but the legacy money hasn't fully arrived on-chain quite yet.

Why it matters

Wealthy investors pivoting to a "diamond hands" approach is a bullish signal for Bitcoin's maturity as an asset class. Just remember, this isn't financial advice—DYOR before you fill your bags.
