The Market Vibe

Bitcoin is hitting different right now, climbing to $86,757 this Friday. That’s a 3% gain in 24 hours as we officially enter "Uptober," a month that historically carries main character energy for the asset. Despite the rally, we’re still about 31% off the all-time high set a year ago, so don't get too carried away.

Why We’re Moving

The narrative shift is largely macro-driven. August core inflation came in at 3.0%, which was lower than the expected 3.3%. This has majorly changed the vibes regarding the Federal Reserve’s next interest rate decision. Markets are now pricing in a 74% chance of a rate hold at the October 28 meeting, a huge pivot from just a week ago.

Adding to the mix, September’s official jobs report was soft. Nonfarm payrolls only grew by 29,000, missing the forecast of 90,000, and unemployment ticked up to 4.2%. Analysts suggest this cooling labor market actually supports risk assets like Bitcoin, provided inflation stays chill.

Institutional Bags

Spot Bitcoin ETFs are seeing some serious action, pulling in $2.65 billion in September alone. According to HashKey’s Tim Sun, these inflows are allocation-driven rather than just liquidity chasing, noting that even major players like Morgan Stanley are starting to push BTC into client portfolios. It’s giving institutional adoption, no cap.

However, it's not all sunshine and rainbows. Traders are watching open interest and leverage closely. While some see a market hedged for continuation, others like UPay CEO Owen Yang are wary that institutions entering at these current levels might limit future upside momentum.

Why it matters

We’re currently in a tug-of-war between the Fed’s potential rate hikes and the market’s hope for a soft landing. Historically, Q4 is when Bitcoin shines, but whether "Uptober" actually delivers depends entirely on the macro data. Remember, this is never financial advice—stay risk-aware and don't ape in with money you can't afford to lose.
