The current market vibe

After a week of traders trading their 'Uptober' optimism for spooky season memes, Bitcoin is finally showing some signs of life. BTC dipped to roughly $80,953 early Tuesday before reclaiming ground to hit $83,591, a 2.24% jump.

We’re currently sitting in a neutral zone on the Crypto Fear and Greed Index with a score of 56. To put that in perspective, we were hitting 'extreme greed' at 82 back in August. Real talk: the euphoria is gone, but the panic isn't here either. It's giving market consolidation.

What the charts say

Technically speaking, Bitcoin is holding some important lines. It successfully bounced off a higher low, which is a massive W for the bulls. It also reclaimed the 'golden zone' of the Fibonacci retracement, a sweet spot where buyers usually step in during uptrends.

While the 50-day EMA remains above the 200-day—a golden cross that suggests the long-term trend is still alive—the momentum is lowkey cooling down. The Average Directional Index (ADX) has dropped from 42.8 down to 29.9, meaning the uptrend is coasting rather than sprinting. Volatility is currently compressed like a coiled spring, and traders are watching to see which way the hammer drops.

The upcoming catalysts

The next big boss fight is Wednesday’s Consumer Price Index (CPI) report. Experts are expecting annual inflation to tick up to 3.6% from 3.4%. If that print comes in hot, it’s going to put massive pressure on crypto, as it could force the Federal Reserve to reconsider its rate stance during the Oct. 27-28 meeting.

Adding to the pressure, Bitcoin ETFs have seen a net outflow of $386.3 million so far this month, which forces funds to offload actual BTC. For now, on prediction markets like Myriad, traders are split—giving 54% odds that we hit $80,000 this month, while holding onto a 45% chance of pushing back up to $87,500.

Why it matters

Markets are essentially holding their breath until the CPI data drops. Between ETF flows, oil headlines, and upcoming economic reports, the market is winding up for a move.
