Zcash goes to D.C. The privacy-centric Zcash ecosystem is officially taking its talents to the Potomac. A dedicated advocacy group known as Pretty Good Policy for Zcash (PGPZ) just dropped their registration in Washington, marking a major step to get their interests on the record. PGPZ went live on Oct. 1 with executive director Divij Pandya serving as the primary lobbyist. The group isn't here to mess around—they’re focused on shaping the conversation around the Digital Asset Market Clarity Act, along with two specific tax proposals for digital assets. ## Scaling the influence PGPZ started back in June, evolving from a previous 2022 initiative called Pretty Good Policy for Crypto. They’ve already been active, hosting roundtables and even running a congressional briefing on encryption tech last year. The funding is officially on-chain—in August, the Zcash Community Grants program dropped a $750,000 grant to bankroll their first year of operations. ## Why it matters Paul Brigner, the founder of PGPZ and policy lead at ZODL, said the move is all about keeping Zcash relevant in a regulatory landscape that could decide if privacy-preserving digital cash remains legal or not. While it's a massive W for the Zcash community to get a seat at the table, remember that lobbying doesn't guarantee a moon mission for the protocol. Always do your own research—none of this is financial advice, and the regulatory environment is always a volatile vibe.
