The race is on

Forget the nukes—the next big flex between the US, China, and Russia might just be about who drops the tea on the UFO mystery first. If we aren't careful, the US could lowkey lose its rep as the leader in government transparency.

US Rep. Eric Burlison (R-Mo.) is sounding the alarm, warning that the Trump administration needs to stay on top of its promises to come clean about UFOs and potential alien evidence. He thinks if another country beats us to the punch with a major reveal, it would be a total L for America’s image.

“We’re supposed to be the most transparent country in the world to its citizenry,” Burlison told the New York Post. “If another country is able to be more transparent than the United States on this topic it would be a blemish on our otherwise pristine legacy.”

Who else is in the game?

It’s not just the big three in this race. Brazil might jump in, too. Aldo Rebelo, a former presidential candidate and defense minister, said Brazil might release its own secret files if the US decides to share its records regarding the infamous 1996 Varginha UFO crash. Burlison thinks having a foreign country back up our intel would actually be a W, as it would prove to the public that we aren't just out here spreading hoaxes.

Are they holding back?

Why does this matter? Well, the plot thickens if Russia and China actually have their own physical evidence. David Grusch, an intelligence whistleblower and former staffer for Burlison, claimed on a podcast that both nations are currently in possession of recovered UFOs.

While China has been open about using AI to study mystery sightings, Russia’s history is a bit more sus. Back in the day, the Soviets officially claimed they didn't care about UFOs, but documents smuggled out in 1991 show they were lowkey tracking thousands of reports behind the scenes.

Why it matters

If these countries really do have the goods on alien contact, the first one to share that info wins the ultimate propaganda war. For the US, it’s a race to prove we aren't hiding anything from our own people.
