It was supposed to be a regular Sunday run, but things took a tragic turn for Treyton “Trey” Lara during the Portland marathon. The 24-year-old youth pastor, who had been training for months, was cruising through the race with no signs that anything was wrong. His wife, Aundrey Shin-Lara, shared with KPTV that she saw him at mile 18 and 19. They even shared a quick kiss, and he looked perfectly fine as he jogged off to continue his trek. But real talk, the vibes turned dark around mile 20 when Trey suddenly collapsed. Doctors later confirmed he went into cardiac arrest. Despite being rushed to the hospital, it was too late. Audrey is understandably devastated, saying the grief hits in waves and it still feels surreal, like she’s waiting for him to just walk back through the door. Outside of his faith, Trey was a major family guy—a great big brother and an 'Uncle Trey' to his cousins and friends' kids. He was deeply committed to his work, trying to make a positive impact in the world alongside other local pastors. It’s a total tragedy for a young guy who clearly had main character energy in his community.
