Tuchel is keeping it 100—he didn’t make the City verdict a topic for the squad and isn't using it as an excuse for the individual errors on the pitch. “It was not a topic for me,” Tuchel said. He’s already looking ahead to the next match, planning to review the tape and focus on building from the positives.
As for the lineup choices, Jarell Quansah got the nod over Trent Alexander-Arnold at right-back because of his speed. Looking forward, Tuchel confirmed that goalkeeper James Trafford will get another chance to shine when England faces Czechia on Tuesday.
Why it matters
Despite the "L," the team believes they’re right on Spain’s level. Anthony Gordon admitted the squad is "gutted" about the defensive mistakes, but maintains they could have easily walked away with the W if they’d capitalized on their chances.
