Get ready to clear your calendar for 2027 because The Avalanches are officially coming home. The electronic legends—Robbie Chater, Tony Di Blasi, and Andy Szekeres—are prepping a massive six-date tour across Australia, and the vibes are already looking immaculate.
The tour de force
Kicking off in February and wrapping up in March, the tour is set to hit Perth, Adelaide, Melbourne, Brisbane, and finally, the big one: the Sydney Opera House Forecourt. Sydney Opera House head of contemporary music Ben Marshall is already hyped, saying, “Experiencing their kaleidoscopic, deeply human storytelling on the grandest stage our city can offer will be an extraordinary summer moment.”
For the east coast shows in Melbourne, Brisbane, and Sydney, the group is bringing along HAAi, whose new collection DIGITiSE drops October 9, to keep the energy high.
More music incoming
If that wasn’t enough, the band is dropping their fourth studio album, No Bad Memories, on October 16. Chater revealed the project was born from “rhythmic experiments using the sonic leftovers and hallmarks of the technologies we grew up with,” which sounds lowkey genius. The album features a stacked list of collaborators including Jamie xx, Karen O, and John Glacier.
Snag your tickets when they go on general sale Tuesday, October 6, at 9 a.m. local time. If you miss the drop, don't say I didn't warn you—these shows are going to be a vibe.
Why it matters
After defining the art of sampling with their 2000 classic Since I Left You and consistently dropping bangers like We Will Always Love You, The Avalanches have remained main characters in the electronic scene for over 25 years. Seeing them take their evolving, tech-infused sound to an iconic venue like the Sydney Opera House is a major W for fans down under.
