The situation
If you’ve been scrolling through the latest arrivals at Hobbs, Phase Eight, or Whistles, you might want to hold that "add to cart" energy. TFG London—the parent company behind those iconic brands—confirmed on Sunday that they were hit by a massive cyber-attack.
It’s giving major chaos, and as a result, they’ve hit pause on all online orders as a "precautionary measure." While the physical stores are still open for business, their IT systems are lowkey struggling and remain unavailable in several areas.
Is your data safe?
The company is still investigating whether your personal info—think addresses or contact details—actually got snatched by hackers. They’ve promised to slide into the DMs (or send an official notice) of anyone affected if they confirm that sensitive data was compromised. They’ve already brought in external cybersecurity experts to deal with the mess and have reported the incident to UK authorities.
Good news for our friends elsewhere: operations in Africa and Australia are on totally different systems, so they’re safe. Also, brands under the TFG umbrella like Inside Story and White Stuff weren't hit, so the vibes there remain immaculate.
Why it matters
Honestly? Retailers are highkey in the hackers' crosshairs lately. This follows a similar drama at Asos less than a week ago, and H&M is also currently investigating rumors of a breach (though they haven't found proof of a compromise yet). Security expert Marijus Briedis of NordVPN noted that retail is a recurring nightmare for businesses right now because they’re essentially goldmines for customer data. It’s a major L for our digital security, so stay alert and maybe check your banking apps—the plot thickens.
