The final second save
Sebastian Fundora is officially built different. The WBC super welterweight champ pulled off a straight-up movie moment in Vegas on Saturday night, landing a left-hand knockout against challenger Ermal Hadribeaj at 2:59 of the 12th round. With just one second left, Fundora secured his fourth successful title defense, keeping his path to an undisputed championship totally on track. Talk about main character energy.
The breakdown
It wasn't an easy dub, though. Hadribeaj came in with a serious game plan, attacking the body and trying to neutralize Fundora’s reach by crouching and holding. The ref was busy, too—Hadribeaj got docked points for holding in both the third and 11th rounds. But Fundora stayed composed, kept the pressure on the rib cage, and finally found the opening he needed.
"I heard the noise that he made. So I just kept touching that and knew it would break him," Fundora said post-fight. The 28-year-old southpaw is now 25-1-1 and has won five straight fights since 2023. He’s already calling his shot for the next big move, looking to unify the 154lb division against Jaron Ennis or Josh Kelly. Real talk, the rest of the division is on notice.
Undercard highlights
The action didn't stop with the main event. Armando Resendiz dominated Koen Mazoudier in a 10-round unanimous decision, and Marco Romero kept his perfect record intact, ending his fight in just under two minutes with a brutal right hand.
Why it matters
This win keeps Fundora’s momentum at an all-time high. By clearing a mandatory challenger in such a dramatic fashion, he’s solidified his spot at the top and is proving he’s the guy to beat if anyone wants the undisputed title. The plot thickens for the 154lb division.
