The Plot Thickens
Main character energy is heading to Hulu. Sam Worthington and Sofia Carson are officially set to star in The Parsifal Mosaic, a new drama series based on the 1982 spy novel by Robert Ludlum. Lowkey, the premise sounds absolutely wild: Worthington plays Michael Havelock, a CIA field agent ready to quit the game until he finds out his partner, Jenna Karas (played by Carson)—who is secretly the love of his life—has betrayed him. Naturally, this kicks off a massive global conspiracy that he has to unravel. Say less.
The Team Behind the Screen
The series is coming to us from Legendary Entertainment and writer Wes Tooke, who you might know from his work on Colony and Jean-Claude Van Johnson. Tooke is also serving as an executive producer alongside the stars themselves, Ben Smith, Jeffrey Weiner, and director Seth Gordon. This project has been in the works for a long time—a film adaptation was originally teased back in 2009 with Ron Howard, and later Zhang Yimou, but it never actually made it to the screen. It’s giving development hell, but it finally seems to be out of the woods.
Why it matters
Spy dramas are having a moment, and seeing a classic literary thriller finally get a modern TV adaptation is a total W. Given the star power of Worthington and Carson both in front of and behind the camera, this is definitely one to keep on your radar.
