The 40-40 Milestone

Pete Crow-Armstrong is officially HIM. The Cubs center fielder just swiped his 40th base of the season, officially joining the elite 40-40 club. With 45 homers and 40 steals under his belt, he’s only the seventh player in MLB history to pull off this legendary feat. At just 24 years old, PCA is playing out of his mind and it's giving major main character energy.

The MVP Case

Real talk, the MVP race is basically over. PCA is currently slashing .280/.374/.577 with 107 RBI and 119 runs. He leads the majors in total bases, home runs, runs, and WAR (9.8). Given the competition, it’s looking like a unanimous W for the kid. He’s essentially doing everything—hitting for power, terrorizing pitchers on the basepaths, and playing elite defense that tops the league in outs above average.

Historic Company

This isn't just a good season; it’s one of the greatest in Chicago Cubs history. He’s the first player in the franchise to ever hit 40-40. His 9.8 WAR puts him right up there with icons like Rogers Hornsby, Sammy Sosa, and Ernie Banks. In the FanGraphs WAR rankings, he’s already clocked in the second-best season for a Cubs position player in nearly 100 years. Say less.

Why it matters

PCA has completely leveled up his game, turning in an all-around performance that is honestly staggering. As the Cubs head toward the postseason, he’s carrying the team on his back, proving he’s not just a rising star, but a generational talent in his prime.
