Nick Chubb is officially coming home to Cleveland. The star running back is set to sign a one-day contract to retire as a member of the Browns, closing the book on an incredible eight-year NFL career. This move brings Chubb back to the city where he spent the vast majority of his time in the league.
The glory days
Drafted out of Georgia as the No. 35 overall pick in 2018, Chubb didn't just meet expectations—he absolutely dominated. He spent seven of his eight seasons with the Browns, earning all four of his Pro Bowl selections during that tenure. Between 2019 and 2022, he crushed the 1,000-yard rushing mark every single season and never failed to put up at least eight touchdowns in each of his first five years. Talk about main character energy.
Overcoming the odds
Real talk: the game took a toll on him. After a stellar start, a brutal MCL tear and ACL damage just two games into the 2023 season sidelined him for the year. He struggled to stay on the field in 2024 as well, playing eight games before a broken foot ended his season.
After parting ways with the Browns, Chubb spent the 2025 season with the Houston Texans. He helped them reach the AFC divisional round, tallying 506 yards and three touchdowns across 15 games. He officially announced his retirement on August 21, saying, “I wanted to end my career on a healthy note, along with a winning season, and I was able to do that.”
