The end of an era
Real talk: it’s giving a total bummer. The New York Giants are officially parting ways with wide receiver Odell Beckham Jr., per NFL Media. The news dropped right after the Giants' 12-7 dub over the Tennessee Titans this past Sunday.
OBJ’s comeback tour didn’t exactly go as planned. He only logged 20 offensive snaps across three games this season and finished with exactly zero catches. During Sunday's game, he saw a measly six snaps and only one target, even though the fans at MetLife Stadium were lowkey desperate to see him, chanting for him to get more reps.
Why he’s out
It’s a tough look, especially considering his history. As the No. 12 overall pick in the 2014 NFL Draft, Beckham holds second place in franchise history with 5,476 receiving yards and fourth in receiving touchdowns with 44. But this time around? He was buried on the depth chart behind Malik Nabers, Darnell Mooney, and Malachi Fields.
ESPN notes that the Giants needed to make a move to promote Braxton Berrios to the active roster since he ran out of practice squad elevations, which likely accelerated the decision to drop OBJ.
The state of the Giants
Despite the drama, the Giants are currently 2-1 and sitting pretty in a tie for the top spot in the NFC East. However, the squad is still reeling from the major L of quarterback Jaxson Dart suffering a season-ending knee injury in Week 2. Jameis Winston started under center last week, but the team is already shaking things up by trading for J.J. McCarthy to bolster the QB room.

Seeing a legend like OBJ leave without making a single catch is a major L for the fans who were hyped about his return. The Giants are clearly prioritizing roster flexibility as they look to keep their momentum alive while navigating a massive transition at the quarterback position.
