New vibes, same story

Leaked images from WinFuture are giving us a first look at the next entry-level Kindle, and it’s looking way cuter than the previous iteration. We’re talking new colors: light blue, a fresh green, and mauve, plus the classic black. Lowkey, these colors are a major aesthetic upgrade from the standard black and matcha options we've been living with.
The design glow-up
Beyond just the color palette, the hardware is actually getting a sensible tweak. The power button is moving from the bottom of the device to the top right edge. If you’ve ever accidentally put your book to sleep by resting it on a surface, you know this change is a massive W. The leaks also show more rounded screen corners, and there’s some speculation that the E Ink panel might be slightly recessed.
Why it matters
Ok, but why should you care? While we don’t have the full scoop on specs like battery life or storage yet, this redesign signals that Amazon is putting more effort into their entry-level gear than they did in 2024. Just keep in mind that the current base Kindle price recently jumped from $109.99 to $149.99 due to rising component costs.
