A very short stint
It’s official: the plot thickens at the White House. Katie Zacharia is out as press secretary after serving for just seven days. A senior official confirmed she is "transitioning out" of the role following a week that can only be described as highkey chaotic.
President Donald Trump addressed the situation on the South Lawn this Friday, telling reporters he advised her to "reconsider" the position. While some might call this a firing, Trump leaned into a different vibe, saying, "No no. I want her to have a good life. Maybe it’s not for her."
The messy debut
If you missed the drama, Zacharia’s first briefing on Tuesday was a major L. It lasted only 14 minutes, and she only took questions from three reporters. During that time, she had a few verbal slips—like calling her husband "my president"—that went viral instantly.
But the real tea? Questions started swirling about her background almost immediately. When she was appointed on Oct. 9, the President introduced her as an attorney. However, Zacharia admitted on "Hannity" Thursday that she never actually passed the bar exam or obtained a law license. She claimed she sat for the exam but knew she would be living in China, so the results wouldn't matter.
Why it matters
For the White House, this is a major reset. Zacharia, who previously worked for Trump Media & Technology Group, was clearly struggling to find her footing in the press briefing room. With her departure, the administration is now looking for a new voice to lead its communications. Whether they can find someone who stays longer than a week is the real question. Stay tuned.
