The Matchup
NFL Week 4 is here, and we have a total nail-biter on our hands. The New York Jets (1-2) are hitting the road to take on the Chicago Bears (2-1) this Sunday at 1 p.m. ET.
The Vibe Check
The Jets are lowkey looking like the best 1-2 team in the league. They opened with a win against Tennessee but have since taken two tough, close losses against the Packers and the Lions. Quarterback Geno Smith has been cooking, completing 75.5% of his passes for 783 yards and four touchdowns. However, the plot thickens for New York’s offense: running back Breece Hall is likely out with a quad injury, meaning Braelon Allen is expected to step up in a major way. If New York can’t get the run game moving, it could be a long day against a hungry Chicago defense.
Meanwhile, the Bears’ season has been a rollercoaster. They blew out Carolina, lost a defensive slog 9-6 to Minnesota, and then absolutely dominated the Eagles 27-7 on Monday night. The drama? They lost QB Caleb Williams to injury. Journeyman Case Keenum led the charge against Philly, but the team is keeping it tight-lipped on whether he or Tyson Bagent will be starting this week. Either way, they proved they don't need their QB1 to score points.
The Numbers
DraftKings has the Bears as 3.5-point favorites with the point total set at 42.5. The SportsLine Projection Model, which simulates games 10,000 times, is highkey betting on Chicago, projecting them to cover in 67% of those simulations. The model thinks the Bears will win this one pretty comfortably.
Why it matters
This game is a massive litmus test. The Bears are looking to prove their playoff run last year wasn't a fluke, and the Jets are fighting to stop their skid and prove they can compete with the league’s top dogs. It’s giving classic mid-season intensity.
