The Method Stays

If you’ve been keeping up with the tea surrounding Jeremy Strong, you know the internet has had a field day with his intense acting style. The Succession alum sat down on the New Yorker Radio Hour podcast on October 2 to address the chatter, and his stance is clear: he’s not changing a thing.

Strong, 47, pushed back on the idea that his process needs an apology. While he noted that his priority is always to "do no harm" and respect his colleagues' space, he remains 100% committed to his craft. "If some people feel that I'm taking it too seriously, or it changes the molecules in the room in a way that makes something uncomfortable, I guess that's something that I don't feel that I need to apologize for," he said.

The Costar Conflict

It’s no secret that his former costar Brian Cox hasn’t been shy about his distaste for the method approach. Back in 2023, the 80-year-old actor called it "f--king annoying," admitting that while Strong is a gifted performer, he worried about the emotional toll the actor puts himself through.

Strong isn't holding any grudges, though. He acknowledged that Cox has "earned the right to say whatever the f--k he wants" and emphasized that he still feels love and respect for his former on-screen family, even when things get a bit messy behind the scenes.

Why it matters

Method acting has always been the ultimate main character energy, but it continues to stir up debate in Hollywood. Strong’s commitment—which fans will see next when he takes on the role of Mark Zuckerberg in The Social Reckoning—shows that for some, the craft is a non-negotiable vibe, regardless of what the rest of the cast thinks.
