The Vibe on Set

While the internet is currently losing it over recent drama, Jaime Pressly is keeping things classy. The My Name Is Earl icon, who played Jill Kendall on Mom for seven seasons, recently opened up about her time on the show. Speaking at the Alice + Olivia breast cancer benefit on October 16, Pressly shared that her experience was all about the sisterhood. "I just really thoroughly enjoyed being able to go to work with girlfriends every day," she noted. She gave major props to her costars, including legends like Allison Janney, Mimi Kennedy, and Beth Hall, calling the cast "beautifully flawed."

The Plot Thickens

This trip down memory lane comes right after Mom creator Chuck Lorre dropped his new memoir, Sitcom, and lowkey threw Anna Faris under the bus. Lorre claimed his initial hesitation to cast Faris was validated when she left the show in 2020. He went as far as saying her departure wasn't a mystery to anyone working on the set.

Faris, who played Christy Plunkett, didn't let that slide. She took to Instagram on October 15 to keep it real. "Of course it hurts," she admitted, while expressing gratitude for the seven years she spent on the show. She also dropped a huge personal update, sharing that she is now a year and a half sober. "I was on a show about recovery and then I lived it," she said. "Now I'm healthy, I'm working, and I'm happier than I've been in a long time." It’s giving growth, and we love to see it.

Why it matters

Celebrity memoirs usually spill some tea, but this public exchange between a showrunner and his former lead highlights the often-strained relationship between creative vision and the people who bring those roles to life, all while reminding us that healing looks different for everyone.
