Honor just dropped the Magic 9 series in China, and the Pro Max model is doing the absolute most. The big headline here is a fresh partnership with the legendary film gear company Arri. If you think the camera bump looks a little extra, that’s by design—it’s literally pulling inspiration from the 1937 Arriflex 35 “three-lens turret.”
It’s giving Hollywood
This isn't just a surface-level collab. The phone comes loaded with Arri LogC3 support and 14 preset Arri Look LUTs. You also get access to their library of official and third-party LUTs, plus the APV 10-bit 4:2:2 codec. Hardware-wise, it’s packing a 200MP main sensor and a 200MP telephoto lens. The ultrawide is a 50MP, but heads up: that one doesn’t get the fancy cinema mode features. They even tossed in a "cinema-grade" directional mic to make your vlogs sound less like a garage band recording.
Battery goals
Lowkey, the most impressive part might be the power. Honor ditched a bulky camera array design to cram in a massive 8,800mAh battery, using 40 percent silicon content to keep it efficient. Under the hood, you’ve got the Snapdragon 8 Elite Extreme Gen 6 chip. When asked why they used such an intense chip without unlocking every single video spec, the team said they were focused on a "complete and consistent flagship experience" rather than just chasing raw benchmark Ws.
Why it matters
Real talk: most flagship phones are starting to feel the same. By partnering with a legit film-industry powerhouse like Arri, Honor is betting that creators care more about "cinema-grade" color science and legit LUTs than just another spec-sheet race.
